Language Perfect World Championships FAQ

1 When do the Language Perfect World Championships start and finish?
The free warm-up period for the competition starts on 13th May 2013.  The official Language Perfect World Championships begins at 8.00pm Monday 21st May 2013 (NZ Time UTC/GMT+12hrs). Check the times below for time zones around the world:

The competition will finish at the same time on Thursday 30th May that it started in your time zone. If your time isn’t shown above, visit http://www.worldtimeserver.com/meeting-planner.aspx, enter the date (20th or 30th May 2013), and make New Zealand ‘Location 1’ then put your time zone as ‘Location 2’.

 

2 How long do the Language Perfect World Championships run?
Ten days, see start and finish times above.

 

3 How many students can I register?
Schools can register as many students as they want! Schools will be invoiced for the no. of students registered, less any free promotional entries (note: currently subscribed students to Language Perfect have free entry and don’t need to register). Payment should be made before the competition, but late registrations are allowed and will be charged for after the competition finishes.

 

4 How much does it cost to enter?
Free – for current Language Perfect subscribers
$5 per student – New Zealand, Australia, United States
£3 per student - United Kingdom
€3 per student – Europe
All other countries are at USD$5 per student

 

5 How secure is my information?
Language Perfect Limited is an incorporated New Zealand company and committed to protecting the privacy and security of users information. Information is held securely and not passed on to third parties.

 

6 What are the minimum system requirements?

  • Windows XP Service Pack-3 or Mac OS 10.4 & above
  • 512mb of RAM – Windows XP
  • 1GB of RAM – Windows Vista / Windows 7
  • Screen resolution of 1024 x 768
  • Internet Explorer 7 (and above), Mozilla Firefox (3 & above), Google Chrome
  • Broadband internet connection
  • Adobe Flash Player version 10.3.X.X

7 Do pop-up blockers affect the Language Perfect World Championships website?
They shouldn’t, but if you are having issues please contact the Committee on support@languageperfect.com.

 

8 I’ve forgotten my login details, how do I find it?
Teachers should have been emailed their login details, please search your inbox for emails from passwords@languageperfect.co.nz. If you still can’t find your login details, please email the team on support@languageperfect.com with your school email address and request your password. Students should ask their teacher to reset their login through the Control Panel. 

 

9 I’m currently subscribed to Language Perfect, do I have to pay?
No. Current subscribers to Language Perfect during the competition have free and automatic entry.

 

10 Can I use my current Language Perfect username and password?
Yes. To access your competition account, login via the official website where all points have been reset (www.languageperfect.com/worldchamps). All points earned during the competition will be credited to your original account at the conclusion of the competition.

 

11 How often does the Language Perfect World Championships scoreboard refresh during the competition?
At least once every 30 minutes.

 

12 Can I edit or delete students or classes I have created?
Yes, log into the Control Panel with your teachers login details then edit classes under the ‘Manage Users’ section. Refer to the Language Perfect Help Centre for video demonstrations for how to use Language Perfect and the Control Panel.

 

13 What English does Language Perfect accept?
Mostly British English is used for English translations. Users can request synonyms in American English by pressing the ‘I Was Right!’ button after being marked incorrect, and then submitting the synonym for approval. This is also applicable to correct synonyms in all the languages.

 

14 What ages are suitable to compete?
The competition is suitable for students aged 5 years and older. Really anyone keen to learn another language is able to take part!

 

15 Where do I login?
Go to www.languageperfect.com/worldchamps to login (on the right of home page).

 

16 How do I register my students?
There are a number of ways to register students. Please refer to the Registration page for more information: http://www.languageperfect.com/Info/HelpCentre/Resources/Registration.html.

 

17 Do points earned before the competition count toward the competition score?
No, points earned before the competition won't count. Your profile will start from 0 points.

 

18 Will non-language subjects like Maths, English, Science, etc., count towards my World Championships points?
No, only language-based subjects count towards World Championships points.

 

19 If you have 10,000+ points, are you in the running for all the prizes? And are the prizes chosen through a raffle?
Yes, if you have, say, 12,000 points you will be in the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Elite prize draws. The prizes are chosen using a randomised raffle.
